Zou Weimin, Chairman of MCC Overseas visited Guinea Ambassador His Excellency Lbrahim Sory Sow and the two sides had a friendly and in-depth exchange on the economic development, infrastructure construction, mining exploitation, new city development, and FDI in Guinea.

Zou, on behalf of MCC Overseas, expressed his appreciation for the hospitality of His Excellency before he went on introducing MCC Group and MCC Overseas. MCC Group is a state-owned enterprise directly administrated by the State-owned Assets Supervision and Administration Commission of the State Council and has undertaken the design and construction of 90% of large steel companies in China. In 2016, it ranked 290th among Fortune 500. It has strong expertise and remarkable achievements in metallurgical industry, especially in steel structure and EPC contracting, and plays a leading role in affordable housing, new city development and mining exploitation. In 2015, MCC Group was merged with Minmetals under national state-owed enterprise reshuffle. The Group is now the largest and most international enterprise in metallurgical industry.

Zou also shared his experience of working in Nigeria for three years. He said, he connects with the people of Africa very much and would like to take this opportunity to develop cooperation with Guinea and African countries in multiple areas with the ambition to help improve the livelihood of the African people and to create a win-win situation for both sides. Zou believes, under the guidance of “Belt and Road” Initiative and with the support of His Excellency, MCC will be facilitated to enter mining and infrastructure fields and contribute to the economic development of Guinea.

Ambassador Lbrahim said he is pleased to receive Zou and his team. Economic and trade cooperation followed and continued since the establishment of diplomatic relations between China and Guinea in 1959. Especially in the last two years, cooperation has been much more frequent and closer. In recent years, Guinea government has actively promoted cooperation with China. With the help of Development and Reform Commission, Import and Export Bank of China, and Chinese financial institutions, Guinea has singed numerable contracts regarding national roads, dams, agriculture and mining development projects.

Meanwhile, Guinea has the largest reserve of bauxite and most of it remains undeveloped. Companies with exploration and development licenses are warmly welcome in Guinea. Ambassador Lbrahim invited MCC Overseas to take part in infrastructure (roads and bridges, water and electricity supply), economic zone construction, mining and civil building development in Guinea. His Excellency also invited Zou to visit Guinea and meet with investment officials of Guinea. The Embassy will give full support to MCC Overseas in developing economies of both countries.
