On the afternoon of June 21, General Manager Mr. Wu Qingyu met with the special envoy of the President of South Sudan Mr. Mayik and his delegation in MCC Overseas Headquarter in Beijing. The two sides had an in-depth discussion on several topics including Juba Sport Complex Project, mining resources business, infrastructure construction business and other fields of cooperation.

Mr. Wu welcomed Mr Mayik's visit. He pointed out that as a large state owned enterprise in China, MCC Group is now developing steadily in four business sectors, including EPC contracting, real estate development, equipment manufacturing and resource development. Meanwhile, it has made outstanding achievements in non-steel fields, such as high-end housing construction, urban underground comprehensive pipe gallery, sewage treatment, large-scale venues and theme parks. In 2016, MCC ranked the 290th among the fortune top 500th in the world. After the strategic restructuring, China Minmetals and Metallurgical Corporation of China Ltd have become the strongest and largest metal mining group in China, the only state-owned capital investment company in the field of metal mining in China, and are committed to building "China's first, world-class" metal mining group.

He pointed out that after the signing of the Memorandum of Understanding between MCC Overseas and South Sudan on cooperation in the Juba Sports Complex Project in December 2016, he had been in close contact with the South Sudan Embassy in China and various financial institutions. He hope that through the visit of the President's Special Envoy, the two sides can steadily advance the progress of the project and opening up different ways for financing channels. At the same time, he hopes to develop more cooperation channels in various sectors such as infrastructure and mining in South Sudan in the future.

Mr. Mayik expressed his gratitude for Mr Wu. He pointed out that the South Sudan Sport Complex Project has listed as a national project in the priority list. He highly praised the design scheme provided by MCC overseas. He will then make every effort to co-ordinate actively with the South Sudan and Chinese departments to help with the finance and land of the project. He also hopes that the two sides can work together in other areas such as cement plants, roads, mines and other areas of cooperation.
